Senki Zesshou Symphogear Season 6
The story of season 6 is more of the same yet entirely unpredictable because”more of the same” in Symphogear means more batshit insanity and over-the-top actions and badassery. Without spoiling too much, we get new villains this season who somehow tie back to villains and characters in prior seasons in some way shape or form but have their own unique and independent motivations for attempting to prevent the Symphogears. Much like in AXZ we get a set of three rival women who it’s hinted are not actually as bad as some of the offenses they are being forced to commit and may eventually befriend the protagonists. This is pretty par for the course in an action-packed magical girl series. Aside from that, there isn’t much more I can say without spoiling anything or not understanding what the hell I am talking about. I really don’t watch Symphogear to examine a profound story, I see it for hyped up and I frankly do not care if things do not always make the story has some asspulls. Symphogear is pure hype and insanity and best merely to go in with the mindset of being along for the ride.
Symphogear users and supporting cast are already well established from past seasons. As with previous seasons, all the women will get her own battle tune and they will use the power of friendship and stuff to kick butt. Side characters continue to perform their jobs like Genjuro supplying occasional comic relief. It resembles Miku might possibly be playing a larger role in this season than previous ones, but that remains to be seen.
The artwork and animation for me is a simple 10, Symphogear from G and onward has always been among the most visually impressive shows in regards to well-animated action sequences. You can feel the energy and intensity behind each and each of the characters’ attacks and the fights are always well-choreographed. The transformation sequences in this season are hands down the greatest magical girl transformations I’ve ever seen, topping even the awesome transformations in preceding Symphogear seasons. Watching them makes me hyped up and makes the girls look like they’re ready to kick some serious ass.
The audio in Symphogear is still fantastic and the girls’ songs always supply a fitting soundtrack for the insanity occurring on screen. As usual, if they get hit or need to put plenty of energy into an attack while singing, you’ll hear it in their voice. Only reason sound is not a 10 yet is because I have not heard a tune yet in this season that I’d put in my top 5 Symphogear songs. Perhaps one of these will grow on a new one is going to blow me away but right now there is nothing to rival my favourite tunes from GX and AXZ in this season. I also really miss the ignited arrangements and it seems like we will not be getting some of these from this season .
Symphogear is the most despised, most badass anime I’ve ever watched and thus far XV has not let me down a bit.
I have never given a 10 to a not yet done airing series before but I have enormous faith in Symphogear as I have given three out of four of its past seasons a 10 (GX got a 9 for being marginally slow-paced by Symphogear criteria but I still loved it. Also note that marginally slow-paced by Symphogear standards is not slow-paced by ordinary standards at all ).
If you are a Symphogear fan, there is a really substantial chance you will adore this season as far as the previous ones. If you are not, then you are probably forcing yourself being forced to watch Symphogear anyway at this stage and I can not stop you, so why bother? When you haven’t watched Symphogear, go start with season one right now to find out what all this hype is all about and when the show’s for you!
Symphogear is my favourite action anime of all time and it has not let me down when it comes to supplying pure badassery and insanity (with the bonus of featuring cute girls as protagonists and having a few yuri-shipping lure on the side). If you are feeling even remotely similarly, I do not think it’s going to be letting you down this season !
